River Advice for Boaters (RAB)


(Previously called Strong Stream Advice SSA) is a free messaging service to advise waterway users when levels and flows are changing and we strongly advise against attempting to navigate.  It is available for the Rivers Great Ouse, Nene and Ancholme and is a useful way of making sure rivers are safe to navigate.

You will need to provide the following information:

The river(s) you would like to receive the messages for


Your name and address


A telephone number for the Flood Warning System to ring – this can be a landline or mobile number


Your boat name and/or registration number – we use this as a security question


Whether you would also like to receive text and/or email messages


You can also contact our 24 hour automated Floodline service to hear a recorded message which will inform you of current river conditions.  Call 0345 988 1188, select option 1, then option 1 again, then option 2, then option 1 and enter the quick dial number for the river you want to hear about:-
